Lawrie McMenemy
Managerial period : 1998 – 1999

He commenced his managerial career with Bishop Auckland in the year 1964 prior managing Sheffield Wednesday and Grimsby Town. He was installed as the new man in charge at Southampton in 1973 and in the year 1976, McMenemy led Southampton to the 1976 FA Cup final and helped them win the trophy. He helped the Saints win promotion during the 1977 – 1978 campaign and to reach the league cup final in the year 1979. He went on to take charge at Sunderland, leaving the post in 1987 before being named as assistant manager of England in 1990, leaving the post in 1993.

Chris Nicholl
Managerial period – 1986 – 1991

He was named as the new manager of Southampton in the year 1986 and kept the Saints up in the top flight through out his tenure as manager at the club. He left the manager post in May 1991 and later on enjoyed a fine spell in charge at Walsall FC, spending three years in charge at manager before leaving in May 1997. He was also assistant manager of Northern Ireland between 1999 and 2001.

Dave Jones
Managerial Period – 1997 – 2000

Jones started off his managerial career at Stockport County in July 1990 and took the club in to the first division in the year 1997. He was installed as the new manager of Southampton in the year 1997 and did a great job at the club. He spent three successful years in charge of Southampton before leaving in January 2000. He was installed as the new manager of Wolves in January 2001 and guided the club to premiership football. He left the post at Wolves in 2004 and is now manager of Cardiff City in the championship.

Gordon Strachan
Managerial period – 2001 – 2004

Strachan started off his managerial career in charge at Coventry City before being installed as the new manager of Southampton in 2001. He helped the club survive in the premiership during the 2001 – 02 season and guided them to the 2003 FA Cup final, which in turn helped the club qualify for the UEFA cup of the 2003 – 2004 season. He was installed as the new manager of Celtic in June 2005.

George Burley
Managerial period 2005 – present

Burley is without one of the most successful manager sin the game at this current period. He started his managerial career off at Colchester United in 1994 before being installed as the manager of Ipswich Town at the start of the 1994 – 1995 season. He helped Ipswich gain promotion in to the premiership in 1999 and took them in to the UEFA cup as they finished off their premier league campaign of the 2000 – 2001 season in fifth position. He was installed as the new manager of Derby in 2003 before taking charge at Scottish club, Hearts in June 2005. In December 2005, he was named as the new manager at Southampton and has already done a great job at the club since arriving.
