Alan Ball

Ball started of his professional playing career at Blackpool between 1962 and 1966, making over 120 appearances for the club. He was a member of the 1966 world cup winning team with England. Between 1966 and 1971 he played for Everton, notching up over 200 appearances for the club before spending five years at Arsenal. Ball left Arsenal for Southampton in December 1976 for £60,000 and he helped Southampton gain promotion in to the top flight in 1978 and picked up a league cup runners up medal as Southampton suffered defeat against Nottingham Forest in the final. Ball made over 130 appearances for Southampton before spending two years playing in America. He returned to Southampton for a second spell between 1981 and 1982 making 70 more appearances for the club.

Chris Nicholl

Nicholl started his career off playing for Halifax Town before enjoying long spells with Luton town and Aston Villa. He moved to Southampton in 1977 and he became the heart of a successful side. He made a total of 228 appearances for the Saints between 1977 and 1983 and was a firm favourite with the Southampton supporters. He later on finished his playing career with Grimsby Town. He made 51 international appearances for the Northern Ireland football team.
