Marian Pahars

Pahars started his playing career in England with Southampton in March 1999 and soon became a fans favourite at the club. He helped them stay up in the premier league at the end of the 1998 – 99 season and he had a knack of scoring great goals for the Saints. He spent a total of seven years playing for the club and was part of the side that reached the 2003 FA cup final. He was part of the Latvian National football side that played in Euro 2008.

Chris Marsden

Marsden started his career off in 1987 playing for Sheffield Wednesday before signing for Huddersfield Town in 1998, spending six years at the club before leaving in 1994 for Notts County. He later on enjoyed short spells playing for Stockport County and Birmingham City before moving to Southampton in 1999. With the saints his leadership qualities shined through the club and was named captain of Southampton during the 2003 FA cup final. He made nearly 150 appearances for the Saints and scored six goals. He was a left footed midfield player who could sometimes play as a defender.

 

James Beattie

After coming through the ranks at Blackburn, Beattie moved to Southampton in 1998 and went on to spend six years at the club. He was prolific in front of goal for the Saints as he scored 68 goals in 161 appearances. He finished the 2002 – 2003 season as second top goal scorer in the premiership and his fine play earned him a move to Everton for £6 million in 2005 and soon established himself in the side. He has also earned five caps playing for the English national football team.
